Stephen D. Libby, 69, of Whitman, died on Sunday October 18, 2020 at his childhood home in Whitman, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Brockton, on January 8, 1951 he was the oldest child of the late Donald and Barbara (Pratt) Libby. Stephen graduated from Whitman Hanson Regional High School Class of 1969. He attended the 2019 graduation and received his honorary 50 year diploma. He attended art school briefly after graduating high school.
Stephen worked over 20 years for Halliday Lithographs in Hanover Massachusetts. He later worked for Lanier and HP Corporation. Stephen was an artist and could always be found with a sketchbook and was interested in photography as well and made videos of his grandchildren when they were young. He loved to visit art museums and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Stephanie (Noon) Libby. He is also survived by his three children: Jennifer and husband Timothy Murphy of Whitman, Benjamin Libby of Portland Maine, and Rebecca Libby of Whitman. Stephen had six grandchildren whom he adored: Jessica, Allyson, Victoria, Timothy Murphy Jr and also Kenya and Mariah Libby all of Whitman. He also is survived by 2 sisters, Donna Carpenter of Whitman and Sandy Smith of Plymouth. His brother Bruce Libby died in 2001.
Family and friends are welcome to attend his visitation on Friday November 13th from 4:00-6:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rt 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman.
