Obituary

CHICOPEE – Lois V. (Legrand) Shea, 96, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, October 19, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Day Brook Village in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on July 11, 1924, the beloved daughter of the late Thomas J. and Rosa M. (Germaine) Legrand. She was raised in South Hadley, graduated from South Hadley High School and had moved to Chicopee in 1955 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed as an executive assistant and secretary at TRW Wire and Cable in South Hadley and had previously worked at Ed Nacke Chevrolet. Active in her faith, she was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, traveling and driving well into her 90’s. She also enjoyed cheering on her Boston Red Sox, watching NASCAR races and attending her grandchildren’s baseball and softball games. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Edward J. “Red” Shea who was Called Home on June 9, 1989. They were married on May 18, 1946 at Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley Falls and were blessed with over 43 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving sons, Howard T. Shea and Thomas H. Shea and his wife, Karen, all of Chicopee; her two cherished grandchildren, Jeremy Shea and his wife, Cecily, of Grafton and Kelly Zacharie and her husband, Kristopher, of Chicopee; her two great-grandchildren, Bridget and Dylan Zacharie; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended members of the Shea and Legrand families and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard Legrand. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 26, 2020 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home, (Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home and Church capacity is limited due to state regulations).
