Obituary

Boylston/ Worcester- Esther M. (Lego) Shankle, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2020 in Christopher House. Her husband of 66 years, Raymond F. Shankle pre-deceased her in 2017. She leaves 2 daughters- Cindy Sears and her husband Steve of Boylston and Donna Belinsky and her husband Bruce of Norton; a daughter-in-law June Shankle of Maine ;8 grandchildren- Jeff Sears of Rutland, Tim Sears and his wife Ann Marie of North Carolina, Shannon Grounds and her husband Ben of Virginia, Tammany Shankle of Maine, Chris Shankle and his partner Leah of Maine, Brandon Shankle of Quincy, and Ben and Alex Belinsky of Norton; 6 great-grandchildren Aiden Sears of Sutton, Ella Kate and Jackson Sears of NC, Lucas, Jacob, and Daniel Grounds of VA; 2 nephews- Rob and Bruce Nichols, and a sister Rita Hunter. She was pre-deceased by a son, Ken Shankle, and by her great-granddaughter Schuyler Harding.

Esther was born in Greenwich, MA the daughter of the late Raymond and Celia (Whitaker) Lego. She graduated from Athol High School in 1944 and worked for many years as a secretary in the Boylston Public Schools, Boylston Light Department, and the Congregational Church. She was a longtime member of First Congregational Church of Boylston and its Ladies Benevolent Society. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards with friends, and she always had a special knitting project in progress for someone.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Christopher Heights Assisted Living and at Christopher House for their kindness & compassion.

According to Esther's wishes, all services will be private. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
