Obituary

Robert P. "Coach Mac" McIntosh, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly, due to complications from cardiac disease on Sunday, October 12, 2020. He was 51 years of age.

Robbie was born in Everett on October 5, 1969, a son of the late Gerald F. McIntosh and Ellen L. (O'Brien) McIntosh. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at Immaculate Conception Parochial School in Malden and graduated from Don Bosco High School in Boston where he excelled in baseball and football. While growing up in Charlestown, Robbie was involved in Charlestown Little League, Charlestown Youth Hockey and the Charlestown Yawakee League. Robbie followed his passion later in life and began coaching in Charlestown for Charlestown Youth Hockey, Charlestown Girls Softball, Charlestown Cardinals and Charlestown Townies of the Eastern Football League. He began his high school coaching career at his beloved alma matter Don Bosco where he coached football, baseball and hockey. It is rumored that Coach Mac bled green and gold. His next and greatest accomplishment as a coach was achieved at Dom Savio High School in East Boston where he coached the football team to a super bowl championship. After leaving Dom Savio, he once again joined the green and gold, this time at Matignon High School as the Head Coach of the football and baseball teams. His last and final high school coaching position was at Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury as a football coach. Coach Mac was respected and beloved by many generations of players.

Robbie loved traveling with his daughter to historic ball parks, Washington, DC, Canada and Florida. He was a member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus.

Robbie was a former Deputy Sheriff for the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department for 20 years.

Robbie is the loving Dad to Allison Catherine McIntosh of Charlestown who was his greatest love and was immensely proud of. She not only knew him as Dad but like so many others as Coach Mac. He was not only her coach in life but also on the softball diamond.

He is the former husband of Marytheresa Lynch.

He is the devoted brother of Anne Marie Chaisson of Great Falls, Montana, William H. McIntosh and his wife Susan of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Gerald F. McIntosh Jr. of Charlestown, Susan McIntosh of Charlestown and Ellen F. Fullam and her husband Boston Police Officer Daniel of Braintree. He is the loving uncle to Philip, Michael, James, Chris, Kelleigh, Will, Boston Police Officer Daniel and Boston Police Officer Patrick.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Robbie's Memorial Mass on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 10 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial is private. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
