Obituary

WINDHAM- With very heavy hearts the family of Stephen F Scribner announces that he passed away peacefully on October 7th at home while surrounded by loved ones.

Stephen was born in Portland ME on Sept 17, 1944. He was the son of Ralph V Scribner and Clara (Hoar) Scribner of Westbrook ME. He spent his childhood years living on Peaks Island before moving to Westbrook and graduating from Westbrook High School. After serving two years in the United States Army, he married his childhood sweetheart, Nancy (Waite) Scribner in 1967.

Steve worked for many years at H.P Hoods and Sons and Data General, both in the Shipping and Receiving department, and retired from Georgia Pacific Co. After retiring, he worked part time as a driver for RTP Co. for as long as his health allowed.

Steve enjoyed spending time with his family at cookouts and birthday parties, where he and his older brother, Gerry, were always partners in cornhole matches. He loved taking daily drives with his wife to stop for lunch or to enjoy an ice cream cone. He also loved a good Texas Hold 'Em Tournament or board game.

Steve was a lifelong Colts fan and followed their football career from the 1950's until the last game that he was well enough to watch on October 4th, 2020. He could always be seen wearing a Colt's hat, jacket or sweatshirt whenever he was in public. Although he was a fan of Peyton Manning, it was Johnny Unitas who was his all-time favorite football player.

Steve was involved for many years with Windham baseball, and coached his son's Little League team, Hancock Lumber, for three years before moving on to coach Babe Ruth and Legion teams.

He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Ronald and Philip Scribner, sisters Diane Walker and Nancy Dale, and a son in law Robert (Bob) Beauchene. He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Nancy, of 52 years, daughter Denise Beauchene, daughter Kimberly Pratt and her husband Don, son Stephen Scribner and his wife Michelle, a brother Gerald Scribner and his wife Jeanne, a sister Linda L Scribner, and a sister in law Judy Rodney, grandchildren Christian Pratt, Miranda Beauchene, Noah Scribner, Danielle Beauchene, Madison Scribner, a great-granddaughter, Reese Scrutchfield, and many nieces and nephews.

Special thank you's to the wonderful staff at Fresenius Kidney Care of Casco Bay, The New England Cancer Center, and Hospice of Southern Maine.
