Obituary

Maria (Gallo) Gulino, devoted master chef, seamstress, fashion consultant, wife, mother and grandmother of two generations; a “lady” born decades before her time, of few words with fast busy hands and lover of books, cheap wine, and a casual stroll down the North End for pastry, passed away peacefully, Sunday night, in the company of her loving family. She was 91.

Born and raised in Canicattini Bagni, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Sebastiano and Concetta (Uccello) Gallo. She and her husband came to the United States with their two oldest children on the ship, The Christopher Columbus. The family lived briefly in the West End, then East Boston before purchasing their home in Malden. Maria was a talented seamstress who was called upon to help create some of the finest work to come out of the Houses of Bianchi and Priscilla.

The beloved wife of the late Michele Gulino, she was a devoted mother of Emanuele Gulino and his wife Kathleen, Maria Michaud and her husband Kevin, and Salvatore Gulino. She was a loving grandmother to Kenneth Grasso and his wife Cherise, Andre’ Michaud, Michelle Spain and her husband Eric, David Gulino and his wife Nicole, Patrick Hickey and loving great-grandmother to Anthony and Athena Grasso, Kali Joe Spain, and Jude Gulino.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Maria’s funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, Friday, October 9th at 11 AM followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
