Obituary

Alice M. Simeone, a native of Medford and a long-time resident of Winchester, died February 11 after a brief illness in California, where she had been living since 1990.

She was born May 5, 1918 in Boston, the oldest of 5 children of Thomas and Alice McDevitt. She spent her first 32 years in Medford, where she taught at the Gleason Elementary School, and then in Fort Dix, New Jersey, where she worked for the Red Cross at the end of World War II. In 1950, she married Vincent A. Simeone, also of Medford. They settled in Winchester, where they raised their family and remained until their retirement to Barnstable, Cape Cod in 1980. There they enjoyed attending performances of the Cape Cod Symphony as well as hosting visits from their many family members. Vincent Simeone predeceased her in 1990, at which time she moved to California to live near her 3 grown children. A fourth child, Diane, had died in 1983.

She is survived by her children, Laura Simeone of Palo Alto, California, David Simeone of Bozeman, Montana and Claire Simeone of Bolinas, California, as well as 5 grandchildren, 5 sisters-in-laws and a brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, March 13 at 9 AM in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Friends may visit Sunday March 12, from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
