José Narciso Pimentel Vasconcelos Galvao, age 74, formerly of Cambridge, MA peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 4th, 2020 at 8:15pm.
José was born on May 25, 1946 in his homeland of Lisboa, Portugal, to Margarida Pimentel Galvao and Eleutério Hernando Vasconcelos Galvao. He worked as a translator for the Massachusetts Court System, religious organizations and various human service agencies. He truly lived his life through the simple pleasures. He enjoyed walks and intellectual conversations with his loved ones, reading and learning about his heritage, culture, and current affairs, and strolling around Cambridge. He was an independent and minimalistic man who lived for the present. He was also a very intelligent man, who spoke nine different languages, and dedicated his life to learning and exploring.
He is survived by his former spouse, Amanda Rodrigues, and three children Martha Galvao, deceased, and two living children Narciso Miguel Galvao and Valerie Jean Galvao. Also survived by his grandchildren Michael Galvao Jr., Veronica Lima, Christian Matamoros, Kayleigh Galvao, Madison Roy, Kenzo Galvao, and Gavin Galvao.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Nevin’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center as well as Care Dimensions Hospice Service for their patience, support, and care. Per José’s request, he will be cremated without services. May his wishes be granted that his beloved time here on earth touch a life even if it be in the smallest way.
