Obituary

CHICOPEE – Gina M. (Occhiuzzo) Ward, 53, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, October 3, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Sacramento, California on November 28, 1966, a daughter of Joanne M. (Gallia) Occhiuzzo of Holyoke and the late James Occhiuzzo. She was raised in Chicopee and lived in Holyoke where she graduated from Holyoke Catholic High School. She then lived in Georgia for several years before moving to Clayton, North Carolina. She was employed for 15 years as an Administrative Clerk for Costco and retired in 2014. Gina’s life was a lifelong journey of creative learning in all things artistic and creative. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her mother, she leaves her two loving children, Joshua M. Gonet of Sharpsburg, GA and Kasidee N. Martinez and her husband, Luis, of Sierra Vista, AZ; her four cherished grandchildren, Jayden, Ryker, Ryleigh and Cayden; her dear sister, Danielle M. Dube and her husband, Gene, of Chicopee; her three dear brothers, James A. Occhiuzzo II and his partner, Andrea Leclair, of Monson, John M. Occhiuzzo and his wife, Ann, and Joseph A. Occhiuzzo, all of Holyoke; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. She will also be deeply missed by her beloved canine companions, her dogs Bodhi, Bailey and the late Champ. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home capacity is limited due to state regulations). The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
