FRAMINGHAM: Elfrieda “Frieda” (Boesenberg) Hunter died unexpectedly on Sunday Sept 27, 2020. She was born Oct 14, 1937, the daughter of the late Edward J Boesenberg and Dorothy (Harris) Boesenberg. She is predeceased by her husband Paul S Hunter, son Robert J Hunter, and sister Dorothy Flieger. She is survived by her sister Roberta Shaw of Natick. She is the devoted mother of Laura Hunter Brooks of Framingham and her partner Mike Nolan of Somerville, Jennifer Ritz of Norton, and Tori Hunter and her partner Aric Rassmussen of Shirley. She is the grandmother of Lenny Brooks, Michael Brooks and Christopher Brooks of Framingham, Natalie Ritz of Northfield, VT and Chloe Ritz of Norton, and is great-grandmother to Michael S Brooks and Ryan Brooks of Framingham. She is a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law Debbie Murphy of York, ME and her dear friend Leona Crichton of Berwick, ME.
Frieda was born and raised in Cochituate and graduated from Wayland High School in 1957. She married Paul Hunter soon after and moved to Natick where they raised their 4 children until 1975. They moved to Freeport, ME and Nantucket before settling for good in South Berwick, Maine in 1983.
Frieda was always known for her kindness and willingness to help others. She had a quick wit and incredible sense of humor. People were drawn to her warm and welcoming personality. Her sense of adventure never diminished even as she grew older. She went skydiving at 70, skiing at 75, and whitewater rafting at 78! Throughout her life she pursued many hobbies. She loved camping, cooking over the open fire, crafts of all sorts, and loved feeding a crowd. She also saw the goodness in every person and looked for the bright side of every situation. She was always looking to brighten someone's day with her words or acts of kindness. She loved to share her talents with anyone that wanted to learn. She was always eager to lend a hand to anyone in need.
After moving to South Berwick, she and Paul purchased Flynn’s News restaurant which she ran for 14 years. It was known for her home cooking, relaxed atmosphere, and sense of community. She loved the local patrons and always considered them her Flynn’s news family. Equally important was her church family. She was an active member of the First Parish Federated Church in South Berwick where she worked at the thrift shop and was known as the “biscuit lady”, making over 200 biscuits for every church supper.

In 2018, she moved to Framingham to live with her daughter Laura and be closer to her entire family. Over the last 2 years she had delighted in being around her children and grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life and they will always be thankful for the traits of kindness, generosity, compassion, sense of humor, and zest for life that she instilled in them. She was known for big family holiday gatherings that everyone looked forward to. She will be missed by all who knew her.
