Sarah James Garrett, 37, of Franklin, beloved wife of David Garrett and mother of Nathaniel Garrett, died March 2, 2006 after a brief battle with cancer.
Sarah was born January 9, 1969 in Swansea, to Letitia (Meinhold) James and Dr. Francis James. Sarah is survived by her husband David, one son, Nathaniel Garrett, two nieces and a nephew. Sarah is also survived by her parents and her sister, Susan James Geremia of Dover and many cousins and wonderful friends.
Sarah graduated high school at Lincoln School in Providence, RI and attended a post graduate year at Northfield Mount Hermon. She then received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Connecticut College and a Master of Arts degree in American Art History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
After graduate school, Sarah worked for Pearson Education in Reading, Needham and Boston, where she met Dave, her soul mate and the love of her life. She and Dave were married in Salem, MA and shortly after moving to Franklin, welcomed the birth of their beautiful son, Nathaniel. Dave and Nate made Sarah’s life complete and she was happy every day just being by their side.
She was equally passionate about sailing. To Sarah, there was simply nothing half as much worth doing as beating across Buzzard’s Bay from the New Bedford Yacht Club to Cuttyhunk on Deliverance, her family’s sloop. From a young age, a love of travel was fostered by her parents and inspired Sarah to travel the world and catalogue her experiences by collecting numerous “flippy” pens. Throughout her life, Sarah was involved in all efforts to protect manatees.
