Obituary

CHICOPEE – Joseph F. “Smokin Joe” Percoski, Jr., 68, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, September 25, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at Chapin Center in Springfield with his devoted twin brother, Jim by his side. He was born in Springfield on October 22, 1951, a beloved son of the late Joseph F. Percoski, Sr. and Bertha L. (Warren) Percoski Grandmont. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and had lived in Chicopee most of his life. He furthered his education and attended Cambridge Junior College in Cambridge, MA. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a computer operator in Holyoke. He was a bass guitarist with many local bands including Crimson Sky, Gemini Project, Two for One and Return of the Crimson Sky. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his loving twin brother, James S. “Jim” Percoski of Rocky Hill, CT; his cherished niece and nephew, Christy Martinez and her husband, Ismael, of Holyoke and Robert Percoski of Florida; his cherished grandniece and grandnephew, Alyssa Martinez and Ismael “Miles” Martinez, Jr.; and his many dear cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear sister, Judith K. Nagy. Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.). The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and the funeral home capacity is limited due to state regulations). His Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Prayer Service at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013.
