Mary A, (Moloney) LaChance, 83, of Whitman Massachusetts joined her beloved husband of 45 years, Arthur “Leo”, in their heavenly home September 26. She died peacefully at South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center.

Born in South Boston in 1937, the daughter of the late William and Bridgette “Agnes” (Gillespie) Moloney. A devoted sister, Mary is preceded in death by her sisters Margaret Campbell, Kathleen Benson, and Patricia Cutlip, and her brothers John Moloney, Francis Moloney, and James Moloney.

Mary is survived by her son Arthur LaChance Jr. and wife Julie of Sandwich, and daughters Barbara O’Sullivan and husband Paul of Brockton, and Paula Wokoske and husband Scott of Whitman. She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren: Jason LaChance of Sandwich, Eric LaChance (wife Kristina) of Sandwich, Bethany LaChance of Hanson, Paula Donnelly (her friend Jim Burden) of Fair Haven, Erin Donnelly of Whitman; Lauren Rivera (husband Luis) of Brockton; and Emma Donnelly of Brockton, Artie Voss of Middleboro; and her great grandchildren; Alessio and Delaney Rivera, Nicholas Mele, Jonah Donnelly, and Avery and Brady LaChance.

Born and raised in “Southie,” Mary was strong willed and extremely proud of her Irish heritage. She passed that heritage along with many stories and songs to her children and grandchildren.

A member of Holy Ghost Parish in Whitman, she would spend many hours crocheting prayer shawls or assembling rosaries. She worked many years in electronics manufacturing, building things she couldn’t talk about, but was proud to play a small part in. Mary’s legacy will live on through her family and the lives she touched.
