Obituary

CHICOPEE – Charles C. “Chuck” Folsom, Jr., 67, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, September 24, 2020. He entered into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Montclair, New Jersey on August 12, 1953, a beloved son of Therese R. (Scherer) McCloskey of Palm City, Florida and the late Charles C. Folsom. He was raised in Franklin Lakes, NJ, graduated in 1971 from Ramapo Hills High School. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business in 1975 from Saint Bonaventure University in Olean, NY and had moved to Fairview in 1981. He was employed as a salesman for Hano Business Forms in Springfield and later worked at JC Business Forms in Windsor, CT and Epco Business Forms in West Springfield. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church and a member of the Fairview 4044 Knights of Columbus, both in Chicopee. During his leisure time, he enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime member of the Orchards Golf Course in South Hadley. He also was a local football, basketball and lacrosse referee for many youth and men’s leagues. He treasured many family vacations to Lake George and the Saratoga Race Track and loved attending concerts with his wife to see Chicago. He was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan and loved cheering on his St. Bonaventure Bonnies basketball team. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Janet A. (Renkawitz) Folsom. They were married on November 20, 1976 in Penfield, NY and were blessed with over 43 years of happiness together. In addition to his mother and wife, he also leaves his two loving children, Greg C. Folsom and his wife, Amy, of Valrico, FL and Lindsay C. Folsom of West Springfield; his five cherished grandchildren, Dakota Rubner, Mila Folsom, Caleb Folsom, Devlin Croteau and Charleigh Croteau; his brother, Joseph Folsom of Henryville, PA; his sisters, Laura Pochatko and her husband, Chris, of Mahwah, NJ and Sue Venturini of Lakewood, CO; his brothers-in-law, Gerry Baumann of Greenwood Lake, NY, Michael Renkawitz and his wife, Connie, of Agawam, Steven Renkawitz of Chicopee and John Renkawitz of Holmes Beach, FL; his sister-in-law, Patricia Ford and her husband, Jeffrey, of Holmes Beach, FL; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended members of the Folsom and Renkawitz families and friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Mary Baumann and Kathie O’Brien. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and Church capacity is limited due to state regulations). His burial will be private. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
