Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Barbara E. "Bobbie" (Bowdish) Lalikos, 55, of the East Springfield section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Sidney, New York on February 28, 1965, a beloved daughter of William Bowdish and Tess (Box) Korkuch. She was raised in Brookline, Massachusetts, graduated from Brookline High School and attended UMASS Amherst where she was a member of the Minutemen Marching Band and met her soul mate, her future husband, Anthony. She furthered her education and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Massage Therapy from Springfield Technical Community College. She worked as a massage therapist and owned and operated her own business for the past 13 years, Balance Massage in Springfield. Her massage skills were a gift from God and she shared them with anyone without hesitation. She attended Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield and was recently chrismated in the Greek Orthodox faith. She was also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. During her leisure time, she enjoyed crafting and practiced everything from crocheting, sewing, quilting, knitting and tatting. She also spent time gaming and enjoyed role playing games both on and offline with many friends around the world. Above all, she loved spending time with family and friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Anthony J. Lalikos. They were married on June 18, 1988 at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield and were blessed with over 32 years of happiness together. She also leaves her two loving children, Elayna A. Lalikos and her partner, Ryan McCarthy, of Longmeadow and William A. Lalikos of Springfield; her beloved father and step-mother, William Bowdish and his wife, Theodora Kelley, of Florida; her beloved mother, Tess Korkuch of Barnstable; her dear sister, Bonnie Schwamb and her husband, Gene, of Chelmsford; her dear step-brother, Chris Kelley and his wife, Eileen, of Holland; her two dear sisters-in-law, Joan Marcil of Agawam and Anne-Marie Ktorides and her husband, Stanley, of New Fairfield, CT; her two dear brothers-in-law, Michael Lalikos of Deep River, CT and John Lalikos and his wife, Aneta, of Topsfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved step-father, William Korkuch. She will also be deeply missed by her beloved cats and grand cats. Barbara will Lie in Repose on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. which will be followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107, (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and Cathedral capacity is limited due to state regulations). Her Burial will be private. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral Endowment Fund, 22 Saint George Road, Springfield, MA 01104.
