Ida M. Cann
Longtime Tewksbury Resident

TEWKSBURY: Ida M. (Cameron) Cann, age 104, in Chelmsford, a 66 year resident of Tewksbury, passed away at the Palm Center in Chelmsford on Sunday, September 20, 2020.

Ida was the beloved wife of the late John Cann, who passed away in 1981.

Born in Randolph of March 27, 1916, she was the daughter of the late William J. Cameron and the late Hattie E. (Winnett) Cameron.

Ida grew up in Randolph, attended Randolph schools and graduated from Quincy Trade School.

During World War II, she worked on aircraft components at the former Lawson Machine Company in Malden.

Ida held many jobs throughout her long life. She worked at the First National Store Warehouse in Somerville, operated machinery at TRW/United Car Company in Burlington, and worked as a Clerk at the former Calvert’s Clothing Store in Tewksbury until retiring in 1995.

Ida was a longtime member, past Deacon, coordinator of the Adult Lunch Program, a member of the Philathea’s Group, and
a member of the Hospitality Committee of the First Baptist Church in Tewksbury.

In her spare time, Ida enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, sewing, crochet, bowling, scrabble, and following the Boston Red Sox.

Ida’s family includes two daughters, Marilyn A. Burris and her late husband Thomas of Hudson, NH, and Marsha J. Sawin and her husband Arthur of Lowell; five grandchildren, Theresa Smith, Kevin Burris and his wife Inga, Barbara Baker and her husband Dave, all of Hudson, NH, Patricia Dascoli and her husband Michael of Tewksbury, and Julie Simao and her husband Rui of Ayer; eleven great grandchildren, Emily Shuman and her husband Russ, Jason Smith and his wife Ashley, Ian and Matthew Burris, Erin Collinge and her husband Nate, Rachel Baker, Keith and Kevin Burris, Deanna Keogh and her husband Kevin, Michael Dascoli, Kacy Harmon and her husband James, and Calli Simao; six great great grandchildren, Kalli and Kaelyn Collinge, Lillian Shuman, Justin, Michael and Christopher Keogh; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Ida was the sister of the late Wilma Aberle.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 25 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Rte. 133, Tewksbury. Please meet at the church. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. Face covering, masks and social distancing is required at all venues. Donations honoring Ida can be made to the Bertha Flanagan Scholarship Fund and mailed to the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
