W.L. Smith, Jr., 86, of Wray, Georgia, died Monday, September 21, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, September 24, 2020 at New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church in Ben Hill County, Georgia, with the Rev. Jody Silvers and the Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. His grandson, Jonathan Smith, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 PM until 9 PM, at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Smith was born May 21, 1934, in Coffee County, Georgia to the late Walter Lee & Lilla Hulett Smith. He lived in the community all of his life and was a lifelong farmer. He raised cows and enjoyed cutting the grass. Mr. Smith loved the Lord and was his happiest when he was on the farm. He was a faithful member of New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frankie Smith of Wray; a daughter, Sandra Sellers & Newton of Wray; two daughters-in-law: Janice Smith of Wray and Terri Smith of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Benjamin Smith, Becki Ledbetter & Jason, Trevor Smith & Christy, Kayla Sellers and Jonathan Smith & Jennifer; great-grandchildren: Ty Hollinger, Logan Smith, Alyssa Smith, Colton Smith, Brodie Smith and Iva Grace Wilder; a brother, Cecil Ed Smith & Frances of Fitzgerald; a sister, Clara Carver & Tillman of Jacksonville, Florida and two sisters-in-law: Myrtle Smith and Pauline Spann. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Fred Smith and Steve Smith; a granddaughter, Laci Smith; and siblings: Sarah Young, Bernard Smith, Fred Smith, Ruby Spires, Sue Griffin, and Grover Smith.
