John T. Shelley
Truck Driver for Yarde Metals Company

DRACUT: John Thomas Shelley, age 58, a resident of Dracut for the past 9 years, formerly of Milford, NH and Tewksbury, passed away at the Palm Center in Chelmsford on Friday, September 18, 2020.

He was the beloved husband of Karen J. (Meek) Shelley.

Born in Tewksbury on February 8, 1962, he was the son of the late Walter J. Shelley, Sr. and the late Jean M. (Gallagher) Shelley.

John grew up in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools, and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School.
He later attended Andover Tractor Trailer School, and received certification for his Commercial Driver’s License.

Prior to his illness, he worked for the Yarde Metals Company of Pelham, NH for 10 years.

He loved salt water fishing especially for striped bass and bluefish off the beaches at Plum Island.

In addition to his wife, John leaves one daughter, Penney L. Climo and her husband Martin of Lyndeborough, NH.
He was the brother of Rita S. Georges and her husband James of Wolfeboro, NH, Elizabeth A. Newcomb and her husband Philip of Tewksbury, Walter J. Shelley, Jr. and his wife Grace of Tewksbury, Deborah A. Marks and her late husband Larry of Lowell, and David F. Shelley and his late wife Cheryl of Lowell. John was the uncle of many nieces and nephews including the late Jonathan A. Marks.

Family and friends are invited to meet for his graveside service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd at the Wildwood Cemetery, off Wildwood Street in Wilmington. There are no calling hours. Face coverings, masks and social distancing are required for those attending. Donations honoring John’s memory may be made to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center, 295 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854.
