Geraldine Hartnett (Geri), age 59, unexpectedly passed away on September 13, 2020 at her home in Hyde Park. Geri was born on August 25, 1961, to her late parents Ellen F Hartnett and William J Hartnett.
Geri grew up in Roslindale, Massachusetts alongside her siblings, William D Hartnett of Hyde Park, New York and Ellen F Duarte of Uxbridge, Massachusetts. Geri made many friends throughout her life including her best friend from high school Stephanie Tsalagas who she was friends with up until this day. Geri graduated high school and continued on to work as a nurse’s aid at a nursing home for many years. After leaving the nursing home she worked at CVS where she spent several years working as a cashier, which she loved.
Geri spent her days reading her favorite books and if she wasn’t home reading and yelling at her kitties she was spending time with her grandchildren. Geri enjoyed being in the kitchen and cooking her daughter’s favorite meals. Geri loved cats and grew up taking care of them throughout her life. She had 5 of her own which included Scooter, Patches, Phil, Callie, and most recently Muffin. She enjoyed taking trips to Roslindale Square to browse the local markets and always stopped at Burger King for a nice lunch afterwards. Geri was most proud of her daughter’s accomplishments in life and of her son in-law Jose Burgos’ recent accomplishment of becoming a police officer.
Geri was the beloved mother to Marissa Hartnett, nana to her 3 grandchildren Jaylina Burgos, Silas Burgos and Everleigh Burgos. Geri was a loving sister to Ellen Duarte and her husband Dennis Duarte and her brother William D Hartnett. Geri was a wonderful Aunt to her 2 nieces Kristen Burroughs and Kelly Duarte and great Aunt to Jacob Burroughs.
Geri will be fondly remembered by her down to earth kindness, simplicity, and beautiful smile.
Visiting hours while respecting social distancing guidelines will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Brady and Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. ( Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain from 5-7pm.
