Ruth Ann (McKay) Reed, 79, of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 18, 2020.
She was born on December 10, 1940 in Anderson, the daughter of Loren E. and Helen Lavon (Cade) McKay. She served in the US Air Force, April 6, 1959 through October 24, 1960. She retired from the US Postal Service after 33 years of employment and attended the Free Methodist Church in Anderson. She was involved with Girl Scouts, CYC Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Meals on Wheels, PTA at North Anderson Elementary School, and Contact Help Hotline. Ruth Ann loved to read, knit, and cook big meals for her family.
She is survived by four daughters; Lorie A. (Anthony) Burns of Alabama, Cherri A. Nantroup , Barbara (Mark) Vermillion and Bonita L. Reed all of Anderson; two sisters, Jeanette Beck and Helen Fisher both of Anderson, and brother, Jerry (Karla) McKay of Pendleton; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Harold Lauderbaugh; brother, Lloyd McKay; nephew, Kenny Beck; and special friend, Jerri McClintock.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 11 AM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery with military rites.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to The American Heart, Cancer or Diabetes Association.
