Fairhaven – Hilda (Vieira) Alves, age 92, of Dartmouth passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Alden Court Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Americo 'Mac' Alves.
Born in New Bedford, MA she was the daughter of the late Mary (Amaral) Vieira and Urbano Vieira. Hilda had worked at Acushnet Company for many years. She later worked delivering for Meals on Wheels, as well as worked in the nutrition dept. at Coastline and also was a volunteer at the front desk for the Dartmouth Senior Center. Hilda had also been Ms. Dartmouth Senior Queen.
Hilda had been a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, VFW of Freetown, Mt. Carmel Seniors, Dartmouth Bliss Corner Club and St. Theresa Acushnet. Ballroom dancing was her favorite, she also enjoyed working in the yard taking care of her flowers and traveling intensively with her husband to Europe, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and Hawaii.
Hilda is survived by her son, Robert W. Alves and his wife Rosemary of South Dartmouth; her granddaughter, Heather Alves and 2 loving godchildren, Donna Horrocks and her husband Bill and Darlene Lattimer and her husband Michael; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Hilda’s visiting hours and service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Her burial will be private.
All attendees are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering and to practice social distancing of 6 feet. Attendance will be limited in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions.
