James F. Beaton, Sr., 90, a long-time resident of Winchester, died Wednesday, March 1st at the Pine Knoll Nursing Home in Lexington. Born in Woburn on February 4, 1916, he was the son of the late Frank and Alice (Murray) Beaton.
At age 16 he started his 40 plus years as a professional wrestler. He worked over 30 years at the Atlantic Gelatin Company in Woburn.
Jim was the beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Quigley). He was the devoted father to son and daughter-in-law Jimmy and Carmen of Wakefield and Jayne Olivieria-Kelly of Woburn. Jim was the oldest of eight and is survived by his brother Paul Beaton and was preceded in death by the late Margaret Lucey, Edward, John, Robert, Joseph and Richard Beaton. Grandfather of James and Alexis Beaton and Katherine and Daniel Olivieria. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Sat. March 4th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church Winchester at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 6-8PM only. Interment private. Late veteran WWII US Army.
