Obituary

Marblehead
C. Doreen ‘Nan’ Xiarhos, 75, of Marblehead passed away in her sleep, at home, following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of Nicholas G. Xiarhos with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Cecelia M. (Pappillon) Kent. She began her career as a LPN at the Devereux House in Marblehead working with and caring for the residents. A kind, compassionate and caring person she returned to school to become an RN so as to do more with and for the people she cared for. In the Neonatal ICU of Salem Hospital she loved and cared for newborn infants with expertise and compassion helping countless young children and their families.
Nan was a tireless ball of energy in caring for her family and friends. Always oriented towards the needs of others she made holidays, especially Christmas, birthdays and other celebrations incredibly special by her attention to every detail, including her gourmet dinners, baking and pastries.
Although petite and delicate, her presence had an enormous impact on the families and coworkers she served and worked with, with care and empathy. She will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to her loving husband Nick, she is survived by two sons: Matthew N. Xiarhos and his wife Kristin and their daughters, Jessica & Rebecca of Marblehead, Gregory N. Xiarhos and his wife Christine and their daughter Alexa of Beverly. She also leaves two sisters, Trudy Stavros of Sandown, NH and Cece Termini of Kingston, NH as well as nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Elliot Kent and sister Carol Kent.
