Obituary

Nancy (Keegan) Russell, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 90 years of age.

Nancy was born in Boston on November 10, 1929, a daughter of the late Michael Keegan and Dora T. (O'Leary) Keegan. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1948. Nancy worked at the Boston Naval Shipyard in Charlestown for several years before it's closing in 1973. She then began working for the Teamsters Union Local # 25 as a Teller in their Credit Union and worked there for almost 20 years. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, was an avid reader and also enjoyed traveling especially to Foxwoods. She was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association. Nancy was dedicated to her family and she enjoyed the quality moments spent with her beloved husband and their 3 children and their families.

Nancy is the beloved wife of the late retired Boston Police Officer Arthur W. Russell. She is the devoted mother of Maureen Hennessy and her husband retired Boston Police Officer Mark, Susan Ellis and her husband Glen and William "Billy" Russell and his wife Bonnie. She is the loving Nana to Colleen and her husband Cory, Kelly and her husband Andrew, Mark, Matthew, Casey and her husband Steve, Mandy, Michael, Julie, Patrick and her great-granddaughter Hailey. She is the beloved sister of the late Mary Connor, John Keegan and Eugene "Gene" Keegan. She is the beloved aunt of Patti, Nancy, Elaine and her many other nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Nancy's visiting hours on Thursday morning, September 3, 2020 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. (FACIAL COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED INSIDE CHURCH AND FUNERAL HOME.)
