Robert F. Dunn, Jr., 82, of Londonderry, NH died February 25, 2006 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. He was born in Altoona, PA on August 14, 1923, a son of the late Robert F. and Helen (Parsons) Dunn, Sr. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School of Midland, PA in 1943. He pursued a career in the military, serving in both the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Army for over 28 years. Mr. Dunn was a highly decorated veteran and was among the paratroopers at Normandy on D-Day. He also saw combat during the Korean War, served three combat tours in Vietnam and was a member of the U.S. Army Special Forces. While in Special Forces he was assigned to the Special Operations Group (SOG). After retiring as a Master Sergeant from active duty in the Army in 1983, he worked as a civilian employee of the Air Force at Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts. He has resided in Londonderry since 1987. Mr. Dunn was a member of the Special Forces Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the DAV.
He is survived by his wife, Chun Hwa (Pak) Dunn of Londonderry and a daughter, Sandra J. Dunn, also of Londonderry; three brothers: Willis Dunn, John R. Dunn and Roy Dunn; two sisters: Kathleen Peterson, Hester Roszier; and a stepsister, Donna Balco.
Calling hours were held on Saturday, March 4th from 2 to 4 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A funeral service was held at 4 PM in the funeral home. Following cremation, urn burial will be in the NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at a later date.
