Edwin A. Crean, 66, died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 26 at the New England Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of the late Helga (Scholer) Crean. Born in Stoughton, he was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton High School, participating in football and track. Mr. Crean was a Veteran of the United States Army from 1958-1964, stationed in Germany. Together with his brother, David, he was the co-founder and president of Halmark Systems, Inc., a small family owned business in Stoughton for over 25 years. He was an enthusiast who learned to fly airplanes at a young age. Mr. Crean enjoyed traveling the world and was fluent in German and Portuguese but loved all the languages. He enjoyed karaoke (Boston Eddie) and trivia, cooking, fishing and clamming, as well as the horses. He was a self made man who loved his business and the sales associated with it. He had wit and charm, dedication and devotion. He was a wonderful son, good father, proud grandfather and great friend who will be missed by all. Mr. Crean was a member of American Legion Post 89 in Stoughton. He lived life to its fullest and had a great sense of humor even when the joke was at his own expense.
He is survived by his four sons, Albert Edwin Gordon Crean, Mark Robert Crean, Stephen Alan Crean all of Stoughton and Michael Ryan Crean and his mother Isaura Borges both of Stoughton. He was the son of Judith M. (Puljanowski) of Stoughton and the late Albert E. Crean. Mr. Crean also leaves his siblings: Judith A. Patrick and David M. Crean both of Stoughton, Robert Crean of Easton and Abigail Berman of ME. Also survived by 6 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, March 2 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. Burial will be at VA National Cemetery in Bourne.
