Arnaldo F. Conde, 91, of New Bedford passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 19, 2020 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Norma C. (Souza) Conde.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Emidio and Virginia (Teixeira) Conde, he lived in New Bedford for all of his life.
A Boston University graduate, Mr. Conde was formerly employed as a banker at the Merchants National Bank and later for BayBank until his retirement. He had also owned and operated McBride’s Rentals.
He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II until his honorable discharge in 1948.
He enjoyed playing golf at the Whaling City Golf Course and was a former member of the Rotary Club.
He is survived by his children, Melissa O’Connell and her husband James of Newton, Mark Conde of Fairhaven, Arnold Conde and his wife Pamela of New Bedford, and Andrew Conde and his wife Claire of Fairfield, CT; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Jose Conde.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday August 25, 2020 at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday August 24, 2020 from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
