Obituary


James J. Hennessy, of North Billerica formerly of Somerville and Medford passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family, August 18, 2020, following a short battle with cancer. He was 63. "Jimmy" as he was known to his friends and family was the beloved husband of Sharon A. (Martis) Hennessy. Born in Somerville, Jimmy was the son of the late James C. and Carmina (Finelli) Hennessy.

Jimmy was raised and educated in Somerville and Medford. He was a graduate of the Medford Vocational Technical High School. Following high school Jimmy enlisted into the United States Navy and honorably served for more than 4 years from 1978 to 1983 prior to his active duty separation. Jimmy worked for more than twenty years as a hairstylist and more recently for over ten years as an Inspector of Fire Alarms for the American Alarm company of Arlington. Over the years Jimmy had many different hobbies and interests. He loved freshwater fishing, golfing, painting, and enjoyed music, playing the drums and bass guitar. When Jimmy became involved in something it truly became a passion for him. One of his greatest passions was motorcycles. Jimmy was the Founder and President of the "Miserable Old Bastards Motorcycle Club" of Billerica. He organized the Club in 2003 and made many wonderful friendships with its members and other motorcycle enthusiasts through different endeavors that the Club participated in.

Jimmy will fondly be remembered for fun loving personality and kind ways.

Along with his beloved wife Sharon, Jimmy is survived by his aunt Dorothy Lanni of Lincolnshire, IL, and the late Pauline T. Finelli. He was the loving cousin of Rose Morgan of Evanston, IL, Paula LoRusso and her husband Michael of Woburn, Domenic Lanni and his wife Paula of Lincolnshire, IL. Brother-in-law of Donna Martis and her fiancé David Rollins of Dracut, and Daniel J. Martis and his wife Diane of Sun City Center, FL. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Tuesday, August 25th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 PM. All attending must wear a face mask and adhere to strict social distancing protocols. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jimmy's memory to MSPCA-Angell Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130.
