Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY – Theresa E. “Terry” (Jacques) Boisjolie, 90, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on September 12, 1929, a daughter of the late Edward and Pearl (Glode) Jacques. She was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and moved to South Hadley in 1953 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed as a cashier at the former Shop Rite in Holyoke. During her younger years, she was a Girl Scout Leader and a proud den mother for the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed spending time doing needlepoint, and she loved a good card game (especially when she was winning). She also enjoyed baking and sharing her chocolate zucchini bread, blueberry muffins and if you were really lucky, you received a batch of her famous M & M cookies. She was a longtime volunteer at the South Hadley Senior Center for the brown bag and newsletter. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and her many friends. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She leaves the love of her life, her husband and soul mate, William E. “Bill” Boisjolie. They were married on May 30, 1953 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 67 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three children, Janet M. Hughes and her husband, Kevin, of Granby, Debra A. Eckert and her husband, Thomas, of Chicopee, and Raymond E. Boisjolie and his wife, Deborah, of Granby; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Boisjolie of Easthampton; her seven grandchildren, Rachel Szlachetka and her husband, Eric, Justine Ciuffreda and her husband, Domenic, Geoffrey Boisjolie and his partner, Desiree Brennan, Wade, Kyle, and Megan Eckert, and Hayley Boisjolie; her four great grandchildren, Oliver, Lukas, and Vivian Szlachetka, and Gianna Ciuffreda; her brother-in-law, Richard A. Boisjolie and his wife, Bernadette, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving son, Ronald W. Boisjolie who was Called Home on March 31, 2013; her brother, Henry Jacques and his wife, Jean; and her sister, Pearl Flynn and her husband, Russell. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (the parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home). On Monday morning, August 17, 2020 her family has asked that you meet for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. (Please note that masks are required at the funeral home, church and cemetery and social distancing must be observed per state guidelines). Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Rose Cemetery, 226 Granby Road, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Springfield Unit, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
