Obituary


Paule ‘Paulette’ Blanche (Randon) Leplat, 90, passed away Friday, August 7, 2020. Born in Arvilles, France, she was the daughter of the late Odette (Beaujeaux) Randon, sister of the late Henri Randon, and wife of the late Charles Gustave Leplat.

She and her husband moved to the United States in 1950 after surviving WWII, where they took up residency in the town of Chepachet for 63 years. She was a master seamstress for Harris and Hudson Furriers, prior to owning Pauchar’s Liquor Store in Pascoag, R.I. She was the 1st woman president of the Rhode Island Liquor Store Association and was the driving force in stopping the Bottle Bill.

Paulette had many friends whom she loved, but nothing made her happier than to spend time with her family. She was preceded by her son, Philippe C. Leplat, and grandson, James Leplat. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Judith Leplat, her daughter Janice Bressan and her husband Glen, her daughter Yvette ‘Eve’ Lewin, her son Marc Leplat, Sr. and his wife Donna, and her daughter Lisa Cancelliere. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren - Dawn Jones, Matthew Kimatian, Sean Lewin, Eric Kimatian, Philippe Leplat, Marc Leplat, Jr., Michael Leplat, Nichole Imondi, Nicholas Cancelliere and Adriana Cancelliere. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren; Tayla Laferreria, Zachary Kimatian, Sean Lewin, Jr., Tyler Lewin, Angelina Jones, Jayden Lumpkin, Jordan Lumpkin and Alexis Leplat and 1 great-great-grandson Brady. She is also survived by family in France.

She loved going out to eat, listening to music, sewing, and knitting and made socks for everyone she knew and loved. She was known in Chepachet as ‘The French Lady’.

She was a communicant of St. Eugene’s Church.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10am in St. Eugene’s Church, 1251 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Due to COVID restrictions please visit the family from your vehicle via virtual visitation from 8:30-9:15am at the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
