Obituary

CHICOPEE – Rose O. (Corriveau) Chouinard, 98, passed away peacefully from natural causes on August 7, 2020 at The Chicopee Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Rose was born in the Parish of Saint Coeur de Marie, Mégantic County, Canada on April 9, 1922 to the late Onesime Corriveau born in Waterville, Maine and Cédulie Trachy of Saint Coeur de Marie Parish. Rose married the love of her life, the late Joseph S. Chouinard (1921-1969) of Chicopee on July 4, 1952. Rose was a Parishioner of Ste. Rose de Lima Church, Chicopee. She worked for the former Acme Chain Company and Totsy Manufacturing Company, both in Holyoke. Rose enjoyed playing cards, cooking and caring for her Grand-Niece Denise of Chicopee. Rose had a deep commitment to her faith in God and Country by praying daily and always voting. Rose was predeceased by her Brothers Arthur, Albert and Eugene of Canada, Brother Rene of Holyoke, Sisters Leda Lamontagne, Cecile Vachon Duval, Aurore Vaillancourt and Beatrice Lessard, all of Chicopee. Rose leaves nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great grand-nieces and great grand-nephews. On Rose's behalf, her grand-niece Denise wishes to extend gratitude to the Staff at both the Chicopee Arbors and Chicopee Rehabilitation and Nursing Care for the love, care and respect they gave to Rose and especially to her hospice nurse Joanna of New England Hospice. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), the parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. before the Mass, (please note that masks are required and social distancing and state guidelines must be observed).
