WORCESTER-Walter D. Curley, Jr., 84, of 1 Isabella Street, died Sunday, July 14th after a short illness. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Bridget J. (Mullowney) Curley; 2 sons, Michael J. Curley of Hyannis and Peter D. Curley of Encino, CA; 3 daughters, Mary F. Taubert of Millbury, Ellen E. Curley of Southboro and Patricia A. Gordon of Springfield, VA; a sister Nancy Miller of Worcester; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; a nephew and many nieces.
He was born in Norwich, VT the son of Walter D. Curley, Sr. and Cecile A. (Saltus) Curley and lived in Worcester for many years. He attended Classical High School in Worcester and New England School of Accounting. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. Mr. Curley was the owner and operator of the Skipper Restaurant in Bass River, MA from 1957 until 1976. He also worked as a chef in the Worcester area for many years. He was a member of the St. Andrew the Apostle men’s club and was an avid golfer at the Pakachoag golf course in Auburn for many years.
The funeral will be Wednesday, July 17th, from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, with a mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 16th in the funeral home.
