Obituary

Robert E. Robinson, 65, of New Bedford passed away at home on Thursday July 30, 2020.

Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Jennie Mae (Hicks) Wright and Henry Covey, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Robert was a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and was known by the name Quiet Storm. In his younger days, he was a professional boxer and coached boxing at the New Bedford Boys and Girls Club. During the Vietnam War, he served as a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by three daughters, Elena Robinson, Julianne Robinson, and Jennie Robinson; his siblings, Francine Hicks, Kandis Tench, Hollie Marshall, Cindy Mclaughlin, Della Cecil, Brent Covey, Henry Covey III, and Adam Covey; seven grandchildren, Shakyla Platt-Correia, Robert, Malik, Takai, and Aiyana Correia, Destin and Ariana Barboza; two great-grandchildren, Nova and A’von Jones; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Robert Correia, stepfather of the late Eric Anthony, and brother of the late Mark Almeida.
