MICHAEL J. DWELLEY, 54, of Salem, New Hampshire, formerly of Hingham, MA, died suddenly at his home in Salem on Friday, Feb. 24th. Mr. Dwelley was born in Weymouth and was raised and educated in Hingham. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a devoted advocate for veterans' rights and was active in many veterans' organizations and causes. Mr. Dwelley was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for a few years before becoming a self-employed builder. He lived in Hingham and South Boston for most of his life before moving to Salem, New Hampshire three years ago.
He leaves his wife, Patricia A. Feole of Salem, NH and step-son, Christopher Feole of Methuen. He was the son of Regina C. (Magner) Dwelley of Hingham and the late Donald F. Dwelley. Brother of Donna J. Douglas of Scituate, James F. Dwelley of Millis, Mary E. Feeley of Sekonk, Donald F. Dwelley, Jr. of Hull, Regina C. Nieves and Elizabeth L. James both of Hingham. Also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, 5 grandnieces and grandnephews and many cousins.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 1st at 11 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
Following cremation, the interment will be private.
