Catherine L. (Butler) Ruud, 87, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Saturday, February 25, at her home. She was the wife of the late Arthur E. Ruud. Born in Winthrop, she was a graduate of Winthrop Schools and a longtime resident of Winthrop. Mrs. Ruud worked as a housekeeper and nanny for the Carmen Family of Newton for over 20 years. She retired many years ago. Mrs. Ruud was a member of the Stoughton Golden Agers and the LaCivita Court Association and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. In her free time, she enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, watching golf on TV and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine E. Ellertson and her husband David L. of Stoughton. She was the grandmother of David L. Ellertson, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Stoughton and Nancy Wetherell and her husband James of Chelmsford. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur E. Ruud and her siblings: James W. Butler, Helen J. Anderson and Horace Butler. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Haley C. and Sean F. Ellertson and Nicole E. and Brian D. Wetherell.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, March 2 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. Donations in Catherine’s name may be made to the Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, 02368. Burial will be private.
