Obituary

Beverly,
Rita B. (Pelletier) Szikney, 93 of Beverly, passed away peacefully at her home following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Boleslaw A. Szikney with whom she had shared 43 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alphonsine (Jalbert) Pelletier. Married at the age of 17, Rita was a stay at home mom devoting her life to the raising and care of her family. With her children married and the family nest empty, she began her second career working for the Beverly School Department. She was employed as a kitchen supervisor for the Memorial Junior High and Beverly High School. She retired following 20 years with the school department.
Rita was a quiet, devoted family woman who loved reading, knitting and crocheting. She was a long time member of the former St. Alphonsus Parish of Danvers.
Rita is survived by her two sons: James P. Szikney of Beverly, William Szikney and wife Natalie of Danvers, her four daughters; Susan R. Michaud and husband Richard of Ipswich, Nancy Genawese of Beverly, Janet A. Hios and husband Emmanuel ‘Nole’ of Beverly and Paula J. Runnals of Danvers. She also leaves her brother, Ernest Pelletier of Middleton and sister, Lorraine Perry of Beverly as well as 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers; Arthur, Robert, Alfred and Leo Pelletier.
