Kathleen T. Dexter, 55, of New Bedford died February 26, 2006 at home after a long courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends.
She was the former wife of Richard L. Goodwin, Jr. of Las Vegas.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John K. and Vivian L. (Gaouette) Dexter, she lived in the Greater New Bedford area all of her life.
Mrs. Dexter was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
She was employed as a registered nurse at Hallmark Nursing Home for 8 years which she considered her second home. She previously worked at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.
Mrs. Dexter was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School, class of 1969 and later received her nursing degree from Pondville Nursing School.
An avid theater goer, she enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews perform in theater. She also enjoyed travel, shopping, knitting and especially spending time with her family and friends. She was considered a friend to all she came in contact with.
Mrs. Dexter was a member of "The Breakfast Club."
Survivors include her former husband; a son, Richard J. Goodwin, of Mashpee; a brother, David T. Dexter of New Hampshire; 2 sisters, Beth Nunes, and her husband Steven, and Kyle Rucker, and her husband David, all of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews, 1 uncle.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Wednesday, March 1st at 8:45 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Tuesday, February 28th from 3-8 PM.
Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery.
