Ruth Marie (Crist) Helvey, 97, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on July 30, 2020 at her residence.
She was born February 1, 1923 in Anderson and graduated from Anderson High School.
Ruth worked at World Services of the Church of God for more than 20 years, and attended Park Place Church of God where she was a member of Jo March Club, Clarissa Club and Pathways Sunday School Class. She loved traveling all over the world, loved photography, animals and spending time with her family, especially family vacations to Panama City Beach Florida and Yellow Creek Cottage in Northern Indiana.
She is survived by her three children, David (Rebecca) Helvey and Carole "Kathy" (Max) Benson all of Anderson, Drew Helvey of Brooksville, Florida; three grandchildren, Michael Paul (Brigitte) Hollcraft of Greenwood, Michael Andrew (Jennifer) Gresley and Todd Alan Gresley all of Houston, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Rachel and Nathan Hollcraft, Kate and Ian Gresley; four step-grandchildren, Tandi, Beau, Corey and Shayne Shipley all of Anderson; four step-great-grandchildren, Kinley, Brannen, Caleb and Gage Shipley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carol Devoy Helvey in 2015; her father and stepmother, John and Helen Crist; her mother, Elba Crist; brother, Dale Crist and sister, Maxine Crist.
A private memorial services will be held at a later date.
