Laconia-John Conrad Bradley, 57, of 51 North Street died Saturday evening, February 25, 2006 at his home after a brief illness.
Born in Laconia, NH on November 26, 1948 he was the son of the late Alva C. and Margaret M. (Lane) Bradley. John was raised and schooled in Laconia, graduating from Laconia High School Class of 1966. He had been a resident of Laconia for the past 16 years coming from Connecticut.
John was employed by the Connecticut Carpenter’s Union while living in Connecticut, and for various Carpenter’s and Construction Companies throughout the Lakes Region. He was a U. S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. John enlisted April 16, 1968, and was sent to Vietnam in October of that year. His training was for 81mm mortars. He was at Mead River in November where the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines, of which he was a member was awarded the Presidential Medal. He also has the Navy Achievements Medal for the Russell Beach Operation. John was wounded from hostile rifle fire in the left leg while on a search and clear operation in Quang Nam. He was given six ribbons, two rows, plus the Purple Heart with expert badges for both rifle and pistol range.
John was a member of the Lakes Region Bible Church, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife of 21years, Cecelia M. (Zielinski) Bradley of Laconia, two daughters, Margaret Kathryn Bradley and Melyssa Elizabeth Bradley both of Laconia, one sister, Erin Jean Bradley of Wakefield, MA.
Services with Military Honors were held Friday March 3, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery Chapel, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Rte. 3, Boscawen, NH. Family and friends were invited to attend. There were no visiting hours.
The family suggests expressions of sympathy maybe be made by keeping them in prayer, and in John’s name, donations may be made to the New Hampshire Veteran’s Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 626, Concord, NH 03302-0626.
Directions to Cemetery:
From 93 North to exit 17 and bear right; from 93 South to exit 17W. Follow Route 3 & 4 West through the town of Boscawen. From intersections of Route 3 & 4 continue to the right on Route 3 North. The cemetery is one mile north on the right side of Route 3.
