Obituary

Bruce B. Fowke passed away at his home on Saturday, July 18th, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Somerville, Bruce was the son of the late Wilfred and Evelyn (Bradley) Fowke. After graduating from Boston University, he joined the army & served three years during the Vietnam era. He retired from Johnson & Higgins Insurance Agency, one of the world’s largest agencies at the time. Bruce rose to the rank of vice-president, serving in the property division of the firm.

A Medford resident for 50 years, until recently moving to Melrose, Bruce kept busy in his retirement working at Mystic Valley Elder Services, as the contract manager. He was also an active member, alongside his wife Amy, with the Friends of Chevalier and the Boys and Girls Club of Medford. Bruce was devoted to his family and always enjoyed a good time especially with sons and grandchildren, swimming, boating and fishing at the family cottage in New Hampshire. He loved sitting around the cottage firepit with family, beer in one hand, & making smores with his grandkids, telling stories & listening to jazz.

Bruce was a wonderful, devoted and loving husband of Amy (Bartalini) Fowke, loving Dad to Eric and his wife Camarie Clark of Melrose, Gary and his wife Nancy of Melrose, and Greg and Katie Holland of Boston, as well as, an adored and loving Papa to Luke, Leah, Joseph, Ella and Cassidy. He was very much loved and respected by all.

He was predeceased by his brother Donald Fowke.

A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday July 25th at 11 AM at Lakeside Cemetery, Beacon Street at North Avenue, Wakefield, with Fr. Paul Coughlin presiding.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Bruce by making a contribution in his name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
