Carolyn M. Ruta, age 83, passed away on July 22, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield to the late Walter and Evelyn (Hosmer) Shackett on January 26, 1937. Carolyn worked as an inspector for the Buxton Company for many years as well as a cook for the Children’s Creative Corner for over 5 years before she retired. She is predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years Richard J. Ruta who passed away in 2018; three sons Ken Cotton and his wife Vicki of Chicopee, Richard Ruta Jr. and his wife Dawn of Westfield and John Ruta and his wife Cheryl of Westfield; one daughter Barbara Lauziere and her husband Jeff of Chicopee; 7 grandchildren Charlotte Lynch, Candace Ruta, Vanessa Ruta, Rachel Elliot & Alyssa Ruta, Jacob & Michael Ruta and 6 great grandchildren, Penelope, Phoenix, Ava, Hunter, Ryder and Maryn along with one great grandchild on the way. She was predeceased by her brother Kenneth Shackett. A Funeral Service will be held on Tues, July 28, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. from the Grise Funeral Home with a Prayer Service will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling Hours will be held on Mon, July 27, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
