Obituary

PORTER – Joseph D. Curtis, 63, passed away July 18, 2020 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, after a long battle with cancer. His loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Linda Casler Curtis, was at his side through everything. He was born May 8, 1957 in Jonesport, ME and grew up in Harrington, ME, son of the late Arnold Curtis and Betty Grant Curtis.

He left Harrington to join the Navy Seabees where he started a life-long career as a Master Electrician and Senior HVAC technician. He was incredibly intelligent and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He always packed his tools when going on vacation so he could make repairs as he visited with friends and family.
He loved his country, Star Trek, a good steak and ice cream. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He always looked forward to his yearly vacation at the family’s hunting camp.

His family was very dear to him and he will be sorely missed by his children Linda Taylor of Porter, ME, Laura Taylor of White Haven, PA and John Jeffery Taylor and his wife Tonya Taylor of Egg Harbor Township, NJ. His grandchildren William York of Portland, ME, Nicholas York of Windham, ME, Emily Eden of White Haven, PA, David Reichart of White Haven, PA, Hailey Taylor, proudly serving our country in the USAF, Jeffery Taylor of Egg Harbor Township, NJ and Tabitha Taylor of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Emmy Burkett of Harrington, ME, his brother Michael Curtis of Harrington, ME and his youngest sister, Valerie Curtis of Ellsworth, ME. He is survived by a niece, Sabrina Curtis and family of Steuben, ME and a nephew Jason Curtis and family.

There will be no services, per Joe’s wishes. The family would like to thank Dr. Rovner of Steep Falls for going above and beyond to get Joe the needed testing during the covid mess, Dr Ebrahim of Portland for his care and compassion and all the staff at both Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital.
