Laurette (Dionne) Cantin, 89, of Manchester, died February 24, 2006, at a local healthcare facility after a period of declining health.
She was born in Manchester on February 25, 1916, the daughter of Ludger and Georgiana (Beauchemin) Dionne. She was educated in the local school system.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a clerk by Beacon Way and Leavitt’s Department Store. She was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony Church and served as a Eucharistic minister. She also served on the MHA Council for 18 years. She enjoyed making crafts for the Sisters of Holy Cross and was affectionately known as "ya-ya" by her loving great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Donat Cantin in 1985 and a daughter, Sr. Lucille Cantin, C.S.C. in 2004.
Members of her family include her daughter, Lorraine Sheehan of Maryland; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Anthony Church on Monday February 27, 2006. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
