Obituary

Dennis Gordon, 79, of Hyannis, died on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Cape Cod Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Joanne T. (Wright) Gordon for 52 years.

Born in Taunton on December 25, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Arruda) Gordon.

Dennis was a resident of Hyannis since 2003 and had formerly resided in Medway for many years. He grew up in Dighton, graduated from Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UMass Dartmouth.

He retired from the U.S. Army Natick Soldiers System Center as Associate Technical Director where he worked for 30 years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven Gordon and his girlfriend Melissa Smith of Boston and John Gordon and his wife Judith of Cohasset and three grandchildren, Anne, John and Nicholas Gordon. He was the father of the late James Gordon.

Family was the most important thing to him. He coached baseball for all his sons and was an avid participant in the Boy Scouts with son James. His grandchildren were the joy of his life.

He is also survived by a brother John “Jack” Gordon and his wife Janice of Virginia and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour on Thursday, July 23 from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.

A private burial will follow.
