Obituary

EASTHAMPTON – Daniel L. “Danny” Scheehser, 58, of Easthampton and a longtime resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, July 17, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a valiant battle with gastric cancer surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on December 31, 1961, a beloved son of Laurence J. and Aline A. (Archambault) Scheehser, both of Chicopee. He was raised in Springfield and Chicopee and graduated in 1979 from Chicopee High School where he still holds records in swimming. He furthered his education and received an Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science from New England Institute in Boston. He was a longtime Funeral Director and Embalmer for the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Funeral Chapels in Chicopee and Springfield. He was well respected and accomplished in sales. He was a member of the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044 in Chicopee and the Marconi Club in Springfield. He enjoyed boating, bicycling and motorcycling. Most of all, he enjoyed relaxing by the pool and working on his tan. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. Danny always lived life to the fullest. He leaves his loving wife, Dawn (Dansereau) Scheehser. They were married at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee on October 4, 2002 and enjoyed over 17 years together. In addition to his parents and wife, he leaves his three loving children, Christopher D. Scheehser of Ridgeville, SC, Cara L. Scheehser and Chad T. Scheehser, both of Easthampton. He also leaves his loving family members: his sister, Carrie S. Lemelin and her husband, Donald, of Chicopee; his brother, John C. Scheehser and his wife, Anja, of Sag Harbor, NY; his father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Diane Dansereau of Chicopee, and her mother, “Nana” Theresa V. Peters of Chicopee; his sister-in-law, Kimberly (Dansereau) Banville of Chicopee; his cherished nephews and nieces, Patrick L. Lemelin, Michelle A. Lemelin, Skyla M. Scheehser, Bella R. Scheehser, Ryan Dansereau and Mikayla Dansereau; his cherished great niece and great nephews, Addyson Dansereau, Jaxson Dansereau and Maverick Worthy and his extended members of the Scheehser, Dansereau and Archambault families and friends. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Jeremy J. Banville who was Called Home on September 21, 2014 and his nephew, Jamie S. Lemelin who was Called Home on January 30, 2000. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (social distancing and face masks are required at the church with a 40% capacity per state guidelines).
