New Bedford – Cornelia Alves, age 93, of So. Dartmouth passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the beloved wife for 59 wonderful years to the late John Alves.
Born in New Bedford, MA she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Grace) Pacheco. Cornelia had been the Proprietor of Sunset Cleaners for many years.
Cornelia is survived by her son, Michael Alves and his wife Ann; her daughter, Wendy Melo and her husband Ricardo and her grandchildren, Madison Alves and Brendin Melo.
Her visiting hours will be held on Sunday evening, July 19, 2020 at Perry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. Her funeral will take place on Monday, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
All attendees for visiting hours and church services are required by current mandated restrictions to wear a face covering and to practice social distancing of 6 feet. Attendance will be limited at both places in order to meet the mandated capacity restrictions.
