Obituary

New Bedford - Douglas Reid Quarles, son of the late, Robert M. Quarles, Jr. and the late Elsie L. (Washington), Quarles, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2020. Katz, as he was called by family and close friends, was a 10-year veteran of the United State Navy where he further developed his love of food and cooking. Most important to him was his love of faith with the teachings of the Jehovah's Witnesses. He previously attended many meetings with the Fairhaven Congregation, he will be missed by many who came to know him there.

He leaves behind his longtime Life Partner of 17 years, Shelley Bieu of New Bedford, MA his 3 children, Crystal Quarles of MD, Dezmond Quarles, of NC and Ryan Hardaway of Boston, MA. His brothers, Lee I. Quarles and his wife Yvonne of FL, David W. Quarles, of Leominster, MA, Gerald A. Quarles and his wife Delphine of FL, Paul G. Quarles of FL, Gary E.
