WEBSTER – Michael D. Picard, 33, of 6 Oak Street, died Friday, Feb. 24, at home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 8 years, Rebecca L. (Genest) Picard; 2 sons, Brenden and Connor Picard, at home; his mother, Nancy A. (St. John) Marmat of Webster; 2 sisters, Melissa Wallace of Putnam and Tracey Mansfield of Manchester, CT; his father-in-law, James A. Genest of Woodstock, CT; his mother-in-law, Paula J. (Bishop) Genest of Dudley; a sister-in-law, Angela J. Genest of Putnam, CT; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was born in Webster and lived here most of his life. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1991, where he played both varsity baseball and football, and was the senior editor of the school newspaper. He completed studies in the distributive education classes of America and placed seventh in state level competition.
Mr. Picard was a service technician at Praxair Healthcare Services in Worcester for 4 years before he stopped working because of illness.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale, CT.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 1:00 PM in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Monday, Feb. 27, in the funeral home. It was Michael’s wish that flowers be omitted; instead, he asked that donations be made to the Picard Family Trust, c/o Commerce Bank & Trust Co., 25 Worcester Road, Webster, MA 01570.
