Obituary


Alfred P. “Fred” Lavigne age 82 of Brockton, died July 10, 2020 at Norwood Healthcare. He was the devoted husband of the late Carol E. (Townsend) Lavigne. Fred was born and raised in Brockton, a son of the late Alfred C. and Dorothy (Tinkham) Lavigne and lived in Brockton his entire life. He served in the US Navy during the early years of the Vietnam War.

A 1955 graduate of Brockton Vocational School, Fred worked first at Randy Shoe in Randolph and then for many years with the Brockton Water Department. He retired in 2002 as a foreman after over 40 years of service.

Fred had a passion for any type of fishing, either salt or fresh water and enjoyed competing in tournaments. He was a member of the Bertocci Club and enjoyed billiards, and trips to casinos especially Las Vegas. Fred could also be found working around his home and garden.

Fred was a very social man who enjoyed meeting and making new friends. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Fred was the father of Susan (Lavigne) Kashgagian of Brockton, Richard Lavigne and his wife Elizabeth of Lakeville, Kevin Lavigne and his wife Mary of Plympton and Fred Lavigne and his wife Carrie of East Bridgewater. He leaves seven grandchildren Zachary Kashgagian, Cody, Peter, Timothy, Nicole, Chloe and Tyler Lavigne. He was also the brother of Diane Morrison of Florida and Beatrice Scheurweghs of Georgia and an uncle so several nieces and nephews.
