Obituary

WORCESTER – Lance M. Halloran, 58, died Saturday, July 4, 2020 at UMass Memorial Healthcare after a brief courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves his mother, Dolores “Dyan” (Souza) Dominick of Gloucester; his companion of over 20 years, Julie A. (Blair) St. Laurent of Worcester; 2 sons, Zachary Guiney of Dedham and Stefan M. B. Souza of Worcester; a daughter, Mya Doucette of Rockport; a step-daughter, Jessica A. St. Laurent of Dudley; 2 brothers, Rob Halloran and Cory Dominick both of Gloucester; 3 sisters, Kelly H. Dupont of Gloucester, Cheryl Cochran and Dianne Higgins of North Carolina; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Russell C. Hynes who died in October of 2019.

He was born on December 21, 1961 in Gloucester a son of Robert Halloran. He graduated from Gloucester High School in 1979 and then went on to earn his Associates Degree from North Shore Community College.

Lance was best known for his boxing accomplishments. He won many awards including a few Golden Glove Boxing Championships and an AAU Championship. In 1980 he participated in the Olympic Trials. During his boxing career he traveled around the country and had the privilege of fighting and meeting some greats such as Mickey Ward, Ray "Boom" "Boom" Mancini, Freddie Roach and "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler. He was even given a recurring role in the 1980's series of Spenser for Hire.

A private graveside service will be given at the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster along with Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St, Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Lance's name to the Gloucester Boxing Club, 18 Sargent St, Gloucester MA 01930.
